National Drug Take Back Day

Saturday, April 30 begins the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day initiative. The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) sponsors this effort at many locations throughout the metropolitan area, including two Village maintained drop-off locations in Skokie.

On Saturday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago will accept prescription drugs at the O'Brien Water Reclamation Plant at 3500 Howard Street, Skokie.

Block Party of the Year Award

In August 2015, the Parent Leaders Uniting Schools (PLUS) group organized a highly successful block party in the 4900 block of Hull Street in Skokie and is being honored by the Village’s Human Relations Commission for its efforts. The block party was one of the first held in an area of the community with a concentration of multi-family buildings. The food, activities and special guests drew neighbors together for a fun-filled afternoon with the opportunity to get to know one another and build a strong sense of community.
